This was one of Daisy and Paul's favourite photographs from their wedding day at The Priest House Hotel in Castle Donington, Derbyshire. The wedding took place early February and with traditional British weather for that time of year and it rained all day, preventing them and the guests from enjoying the gardens at this wonderful hotel.
The Priest House Hotel's origins can be traced back for almost 1,000 years! With 42 on-site bedrooms and views stretching out over the Derbyshire countryside, it's a perfect location for weddings of any size.
I was determined to ensure that Daisy and Paul had a magical photograph to end their wedding day photography so with that in mind I went to work and set up my Profoto lighting equipment so that I could create this image for them.
Using my Profoto B1 portable studio strobe I placed the light behind them on a small light-stand. I then went across the footbridge to the other side of a fast flowing river about 80 feet away from the newlyweds. Due to it being cold outside and raining I provided them with an umbrella and told them how to stand inside in the warm so they knew what to do when we went outside.
The photograph was taken in less than a minute with the newlyweds allowing them to get back to their guests and enjoy the evening reception in the warm.
